The Raise Kids
The Raise Kids are comprised of 6 - 12-year-old students from Raise’s Center for the Gospel Arts Summer Camp Program. The Raise Kids receive training in piano, voice, theater, dance, art, creative writing, and public speaking at the Center for the Gospel Arts. This group presents an original musical theater production every summer. The Raise Kids have performed throughout Columbus and at various places across the state of Ohio. They have appeared on radio and television and were featured in a video entitled “Singing and Signing for Children’s Choirs.” The Raise Kids recorded their first CD entitled “Gospel Songs for Children’s Voices,” that was promoted and released nationally in 2000. As a result of this CD recording, the Raise Kids were invited to produce a weekly radio broadcast entitled “Lessons for Life.” The Raise Kids released their second and third CDs entitled “More Gospel Songs for Children’s Voices” and the “Bible Rap” in 2002. The Raise Kids released their fourth Cd entitled the “Raise Kids in Praise.” The Raise Kids have recorded two additional recordings entitled “A Raise Kids Christmas” and “A Raise Kids Resurrection.” They are currently working on their seventh and eighth recordings and songbooks, Raise Kids in Praise II and Shine Your Light Save the World, scheduled for release in 2022.
More About The Raise Kids Recordings
Over the past 30 years, Raise Productions has offered classes in the gospel arts at our Center for the Gospel Arts in Columbus, Ohio. Over the years, we have come into contact with some very talented children whom we have trained in our classes to perform in plays, musicals, operas, and concerts. Once children have been trained and used for Raise sponsored productions and performances, we refer to them as “Raise Kids.” Children who attend our Gospel arts Summer camp receive training in piano, voice, theatre, dance, art, creative writing, and public speaking. In addition, the children create and present an original musical, concert, or recording every year. Raise has offered its gospel arts summer camp program for eighteen years and has released seven recordings featuring the Raise Kids.
As we embarked upon recording the first Raise Kid CD entitled “Gospel Songs for Children’s Voice,” we had no idea there was such a need for children’s music. As a means of providing additional resources for children’s choirs, we recorded two additional CDs, entitled “More Gospel Songs for Children’s Voices” and “The Bible Rap.” While traveling throughout the country, we were encouraged to record Praise and Worship songs for children since many churches now have children’s praise teams. So Raise released the “Raise Kids In Praise” to provide appropriate, relevant, and usable music by children’s choirs for praise and worship.
The Raise Kids recorded two additional recordings entitled “A Raise Kids Christmas” and “A Raise Kids Resurrection.” Over the past few years, Raise was asked to release another recording of Praise and worship music. Thus the 7th recording and songbook, Raise Kid’s in Praise II is now in the works. The 8th recording will also soon be recorded and released, Shine Your Light, Save The World. Though many of the children featured on these recordings are now grown, the music is timeless. We pray that these songs of praise and worship will enable both your children and congregation to be blessed as they enter the presence of God.
When putting together our children’s projects, we have always done so based on the following musical and spiritual objectives. 1.) The songs should be age-appropriate and relevant to children. 2.) The songs should teach and minister to both the children and the listening audience. 3.) The songs should be suitable to children’s voices and vocal ranges at different maturity levels. 4.) The children should be allowed to sing as children. And 5.) The songs should be pitched in comfortable keys that allow children to sing and minister successfully without harming their voices.
Children’s choirs perform the songs on the Raise Kid recordings all across the nation. The Raise Kids hope to show that God can use children as Ministers of the gospel. We pray that your children will be blessed by their music and ministry and use their gifts for God as well.
